It was easily one of the highlights of our time in Italy and an experience our entire family will remember for years to come. Alberto was fantastic from start to finish. He was warm, funny, engaging, and made the entire experience incredibly fun for both the adults and the kids. We learned so much about making authentic Italian gelato, but what really made the class special was Alberto and the wonderful atmosphere he created. We laughed, learned, made some amazing gelato, and genuinely enjoyed every minute together as a family. If you are visiting the area and looking for something unique, authentic, and memorable to do with your family, we cannot recommend the gelato-making class at La Soffritta enough. What is Social Cooking and who is it for?

Social Cooking is an evening where you cook together with a group of people, get to know each other, and then sit down to eat what you’ve all made. We designed it for anyone who wants something different — not just another dinner out, not a serious cooking class. It’s a great option if you live in Verona and want a genuinely fun night, or if you’re visiting and want to experience something real and local. No cooking skills needed — just bring good company energy.

What happens during the evening?

It starts with an aperitivo — wine, cured meats, local cheeses — a relaxed way to break the ice with the other guests. Then the chefs reveal the surprise menu and everyone gets cooking together. The menu changes each time: it might be a Veronese classic, something from the wider Italian tradition, or a creative take from our chefs — but there’s always a starter, a first course, and a dessert. Once everything’s ready, you all sit down and eat together what you’ve just made. The whole evening lasts around 4 hours.

Do I need to know how to cook?

Not at all. The chefs guide you through every step, and everything is done as a team — no one gets left alone at the stove. Social Cooking isn’t a cooking class: it’s a convivial evening where having fun matters more than technique. Whether you can barely boil an egg or you’re already comfortable in the kitchen, you’ll find your place.

What's included in the price?

Everything! For around €45 per person you get the welcome aperitivo, all ingredients, kitchen equipment, drinks throughout the evening, and the final dinner. No surprises at the end of the night.

When do the evenings take place? How do I find out about upcoming dates?

We don’t run on a fixed schedule — evenings are organized on a rolling basis, mostly during the winter months. The best way to stay in the loop is to sign up for our newsletter or follow La Soffritta on Instagram (@lasoffritta). When a new date opens up, you can book directly from the calendar on this page, or reach out by phone or message.

How do I book, and what's the cancellation policy?

You can book from the calendar on this page, or contact us directly by phone or message. If you need to cancel, you can do so free of charge up to 24 hours before the event and you’ll get a full refund. After that, unfortunately we can’t guarantee a refund.

I have a food allergy or intolerance. Can I still come?

We’d love to have you — just let us know at the time of booking and we’ll do our best to accommodate your needs. We’d recommend reaching out before booking so we can figure out together how to make the evening work for you.
