Not at all — and we mean it. Our instructors have taught complete beginners, seasoned home cooks, and everyone in between. The class is designed so that anyone can follow along, regardless of skill level. By the end of the session, you’ll have the confidence and the recipes to recreate these Italian classics at home and genuinely impress your guests.
Our kitchen is located right in the heart of Verona’s historic center, within easy walking distance from the Arena and most central hotels. If you’re staying in central Verona, you can simply walk over; if you’re based outside the city, public transport will get you there without any hassle.
Italian Classics is our signature morning experience: in about 3.5 hours you’ll make fresh pasta, Amarone risotto, and tiramisù from scratch, then sit down as a group to eat everything with a glass of wine. The Pasta Masterclass runs in the evening and focuses specifically on fresh pasta and tiramisù — ideal if you want to go deeper on pasta technique or prefer an evening activity. If it’s your first time exploring authentic Italian cooking, we recommend Italian Classics for the full range of dishes and the shared meal experience.
It’s fully hands-on — you cook, you don’t just watch. From kneading the pasta dough to folding the tiramisù, every participant is actively involved at every step. Our instructors guide you through each technique in detail, answer every question, and make sure no one feels lost. This is the kind of class where you leave with real skills, not just photos.
We keep our groups intentionally small so that every participant gets genuine, hands-on attention. Our instructors have time to walk around, correct techniques, share stories, and make sure everyone is comfortable — something that simply isn’t possible in a large-group setting. Several of our guests have mentioned this as a key reason they chose us over other classes in Verona, and it’s something we’re committed to maintaining.
Yes, wine is included and served throughout the cooking class and meal. For Italian Classics, you’ll sit down together as a group and eat everything you made: fresh pasta, Amarone risotto, and tiramisù — a proper full meal, not just a tasting.
Absolutely. After the class, you’ll receive the full recipes for all the dishes you prepared, including the sauces and all the tips and tricks shared by our chefs during the session. Our goal isn’t to train restaurant chefs — it’s to give you enough knowledge and confidence to recreate these dishes at home and share them with the people you love. Many guests write back to tell us about the risotto they made the week after returning home!
La Soffritta is the Ways’ Cooking School, a certified B Corp and GSTC tour operator based in Verona, which means every experience we offer is held to strict standards of quality, authenticity, and sustainability. Our instructors are genuine local experts who bring real passion and deep knowledge to every session, not a scripted tourist performance. Add a central, easily accessible location, small group sizes, quality ingredients, and the care we put into every detail, and you’ll understand why this class consistently ranks as a trip highlight for our guests.
